ANZAC DAY
ANZAC Day is Australia and New Zealand’s National Day of Remembrance for all servicemen and women who have fought and died in wars and conflicts around the world. Every year on 25 April, people in both countries gather for services at dawn, as well as for parades and ceremonies throughout the day. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13) They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest We Forget. A PRAYER OF REMEMBRANCE We will be remembering ANZAC Day and praying for peace at a special prayer celebration in the Marist Centre on Wednesday 24 April at 9:00am. All welcome. ANZAC DAY MARCH Once again, our school has been invited to participate in the Anzac Day March to be held on Thursday 25 April. Prep to Year Six students will be required to assemble in The Caneland Central drop-off area along Matsura Drive before the March at 8:00am. Either drop your child off in the allocated drop-off area or walk your child to the ground-level car park. Look for the Emmanuel flag and staff members (we will be situated in the carpark opposite the Australia Post Entrance to Canelands). The march will start at 8:35am and will proceed down Victoria and Wellington Streets. Following the march, students can be collected in the usual place, opposite the “Loading Dock” of the MECC in Macalister Street. For more information, please see the relevant maps that show assembly, the parade route and dispersal points. Further important details regarding uniform, emergency medication, drop off and dispersal procedures are included in our latest newsletter. |
